Famous windmills on Crete Greece comprises over 60 inhabited islands with resorts varying from sleepy fishing villages to the hectic all-night clubbing scene. Greek island holidays incorporate white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, picturesque white villages, mountainous countryside, archaeological and mythological sites, as well as endless summer sun. Seaside towns are dotted with lively family-run tavernas offering traditional Greek dishes, many specialising in locally caught seafood, served alfresco-style on the beach.

Rhodes Old Town Greek Island holidays are a firm favourite with European holidaymakers and have a wide appeal across all tastes and ages. Those seeking all-night entertainment may enjoy the animated nightlife on the islands of Kos and Mykonos. Alternatively, if you're after a peaceful beach retreat, you might be better suited to the unspoilt islands of Alonissos or Paros. But this is not to say that each island only caters for one type of holidaymaker. For example, Corfu - undoubtedly popular with the package tourist - is also home to undiscovered bays, mountainous scenery and idyllic white villages.

Blue Caves Greek island holidays also span a range of budgets. Accommodation ranges from villas with private swimming pools to high-rise all-inclusive hotels and simple family-run pensions. If booked during early or late season, resorts are much quieter and cheaper. Conditions are best between Easter and mid-June or between the end of August and mid October - when visitors will find beaches and historic sites relatively uncrowded.
