La Palma, situated to the northwest of Tenerife, is one of the smallest and most beautiful Canary Islands. Many Canarian villages are also based in the south where you can mix with the locals and see the Canarian way of life. An excellent location if astronomy is your favourite past time, the Observatorio Astrofisico is at the highest point of the island 'Roquede los Muchachos' and you can look through the many telescopes or just simply see the islands astonishing beauty.
