Corralejo
From its roots as a sleepy fishing village, Corralejo has grown into Fuerteventura's largest resort. Surprisingly, the resort manages to maintain its traditional charm - its original fishing harbour remaining at its heart. Although now the harbour isn't just used for fishing purposes, boatloads of tourists arrive here by ferry too. Holidays in Corralejo offer a spectacular beach, water sports, excellent shopping, fine food, and lively nightlife.
Located two miles, (three kilometres) from Corralejo, is the glorious white-sand beach of Playa Grande. It stretches a whopping seven miles, (11 kilometres) along the coast and has been declared a protected nature reserve. It is popular with sunbathers, swimmers, and water sports-enthusiasts, especially keen windsurfers due to the coastal breeze. Other activities in the area include mountain biking and hiking amongst the sand dunes or island hopping over to Lanzarote.
Holidays in Corralejo are popular with families due to its close proximity to Baku Water Park with its exhilarating rides to suit all ages. Evenings in Corralejo are spent dining on locally caught seafood, international dishes, and traditional Canarian cuisine. The majority of bars and restaurants line the beachfront. Corallejo also offers a selection of bars with live music, including Irish and British theme pubs, as well as discos.
